Fantasy K-Pop Collab: 2AM + Boyz II Men 2AM + Boyz II Men

With KCON 2013 coming up in less than a week, the US entertainment industry has their sights set on K-Pop and the vast array of talent that will soon grace Los Angeles.

The all-star lineup for the convention-ending concert and first-ever US taping of M! Countdown made headlines across the country, especially following the announcement that hip-hop legend Missy Elliot will be taking the stage alongside some of Korea’s finest performers.

With this year’s KCON drawing so much international attention, and more and more collaborations between Korean and American artists becoming a reality, Fantasy K-Pop Collab is beginning to seem like less of a fantasy and more like a dream come true.

One of the hottest acts planning on appearing at KCON is 2AM, the four-member R&B ballad group under the tutelage of JYP Entertainment CEO and K-Pop mastermind Park Jin Young.

With an exceptional grasp on harmony and more passion and conviction in their voices than most singers their age, a natural pairing for a potential collaboration would be iconic American pop vocal group Boyz II Men.

Since their debut in 2008, 2AM has set themselves apart from other idol groups in the K-Pop scene.Without the flashy dance numbers, eccentric style, or near-pornographic imagery, 2AM excel at making their music the focal point of their performance.

They deliver lyrics with poise and conviction and separate themselves from the rest of the herd with their incredible vocal talents.

At over 20 years in the biz, the (now) three members of Boyz II Men have continued to prove that smooth, soulful singing will never go out of style.

The record-breaking group is credited with bringing R&B back into the mainstream and have been praised time and time again for their harmonies and voice control.

While now down to three members after the 2003 departure of bass singer Michael McCary, Boyz II Men have managed to keep their music relevant and modern in the ever-changing pop industry.

Currently a part of the Package Tour, which puts the group on the same stage as other notable boy bands of yore the New Kids on the Block and 98 Degrees, Boyz II Men have found a whole new generation of fans.

In March 2014 they will begin a solo stint at the Mirage Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas – a perfect platform for collaboration.

Because both 2AM and Boyz II Men have continuously been applauded for their vocal performances, a live setting is undoubtedly best for any sort of collaborative project.

In an ideal world, for a segment of their time in Las Vegas, wouldn’t it be wonderful to see a package deal?A week-long set of shows where 2AM and Boyz II Men share the stage, bringing in a diverse crowd of music lovers of all ages, shapes, and sizes.

They could each have their own sets then come together for songs here and there (old Boyz II Men hits and/or classic R&B cover songs). And just imagine the harmonies that could be achieved with all seven singers partaking in the same song together.

A concert lineup like that would certainly draw in crowds from all over the country, and possibly the world.

Fantasy K-Pop Collab: Brown Eyed Girls + En Vogue
Brown Eyed Girls Brown Eyed Girls + En Vogue Maybe it is just me, but when the Brown Eyed Girls made their comeback last month with their fifth studio album Black Box, I had the strong feeling of familiarity.
